Crushing on Tween

The new cover of CHANGE UP was in my inbox this morning and I love it!!! So warm, beachy, and summer filled. As soon as I get the okay, I'll share it!! Can't wait. :)

In the meantime, I've been reading a ton of tween to prepare to write a tween sporty series I'm super excited about. I love this genre. It's so sweet and fun and brings me back to those oh so awkward years. :)

If you're looking for some tween reads, here's some fab books I read over the past two weeks:
Do you have any tween book recommendations? Have you read any of the above mentioned books? If so, what do you think of the 'tween' genre?

Have an amazing day, everyone! ;)

I love the covers and the fun attitude of books in that genre. I'm working on a teen novel myself and it is fun to relive that time - and I get to write in a more "fun" way.

Ooooh, looking forward to seeing your cover!! You must be so excited!
Keri, is a tween novel considered an MG?? Or for what ages? I'm wondering because I have an almost ten year old that just finished the Harry Potter series and can't find another book that he likes as much.

I think the genre is wondeful -- I just wish books for tween boys were more marketable. I've worked on a number of projects for that age group that I don't think girls would be very interested in. Lots of fighting and explosions and things.

Hi, Amy! Thanks!! :) Me too!

Hi, Kelly! Tween is an upper middle grade genre. About 10 - 13. It's sweet and is geared towards the awkward middle school years. :) When I taught, the HP fans loved the ERAGON series.. :)

Hi, Big Plain V! I'm with you on that one. There definitely needs to be more upper middle grade books for boys with explosions and stuff. :) So many boys lose interest in reading at this age.

Congratz on getting your book's cover. As far as the above go, I've read Barrie Summy's book, and it's highly entertaining. I'd say most books that make it into the tween market are, by their very nature, pretty fun to read. Otherwise, I don't suppose they last long.
