Best Book Ever

Last night at the Teen Writer's Workshop, we discussed our favorite books and why they are our faves. The choices were a potpourri of different tastes. TTYL, AN ABUNDANCE OF KATHERINES, HARRY POTTER, TWILIGHT, THE HOST, SUITE SCARLET, a ton of literary classics, and many other great books filled the table.

What's your all time favorite book(s) and/or author(s)? And why?

Although I love a bunch of YA authors, my absolute fave is Megan McCafferty. My absolute favorite adult book is Alice Hoffman's HERE ON EARTH. McCafferty's books resonate with me because I'm a Jersey girl and I absolutely love Jessica Darling's sarcastic voice. HERE ON EARTH is amazing and the best book ever. Okay, I'm not really sure why I love this book so much, but I do know that I enjoy the story, Hofffman's writing, and it's the only book I've read five times. :)

Have a great day everyone!

I'll go with The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan because I can read it over and over and never get sick of it.

I think my all time fave YA author is the original VC Andrews. As a young girl she hooked me into her dark and suspenseful stories!

I have too many favorite authors to name just one, but at the top are Nora Roberts and Tess Gerritsen.

Hi, PJ - I'll have to check out THE LIGHTENING THIEF.

HI, Kelly - I never read VC Andrews' books. I can visualize the covers, though. I'll have to check them out.:)

Hi, Alyson - Me too! :)

Hi, Marianne - The teens in my writing workshop had the same gripe. :)

Hi, Dru - Good picks! :)

I'll add my support for The Lightning Thief--a great book!

My fav book, though, is...

Narnia. I love it. I love it, I love it.

Hmmm, this is a tough one. I love so many YA authors. I did like The LIghtning Thief and have books 2 & 3 here, but there are lots of other authors I like too. And if I go back into my childhood, the list expands exponentially!

And then add in the adult books I read....oy, I need to rest now....

I'm old, so my favorite YA (at the time) was anything by Paula Danziger. My YA son adores all the Percy Jackson books (The Lightning Theif, The Sea of Monsters, The Titan's Curse, and The Battle of the Labyrinth). I enjoyed them, too. Me, though, I'm weird. Twilight left me thinking "meh." Loved Harry Potter. Those books are like crack!
