A Terrific Texas Weekend

Texas was a blast! I met a ton of fantastic people and the food, softball, and facilities were amazing. I ate at my first yummy Tex Mex Restaurant, I only freaked out once on the plane, and I bought my first cowboy hat for Kaci. And don't laugh, but I actually came home with sunburn in November. :) Thanks, Kim, Amanda, and Kathy for shuttling me around the great state of Texas.
The best day was Sunday, when I met and hung out with USA Softball gold and silver medalist and the best shortstop in the world, Natasha Watley. Not only is she an incredibly talented softball player, but she is super sweet, beautiful, and shared some fantastic stories.

What's the best news? Besides meeting hundreds of super softball players, my publisher estimated we sold and signed over 120 copies of SCREWBALL. Thanks, Texas! :)

Ever been to Texas? How was your weekend?

Happy Veterans Day, Dad!! And have an amazing day, everyone!

I met John and Hank Green Tuesday. It was AWESOME AMAZING WOW. He signed all my books and gave me a Nerdfighter gift and it was awesome. I won a tee shirt, and got Hank's cd. And They both signed my shirt and it was amazing. I am still excited about it.

By the way John is just as amazing in person as he is on youtube. It was like amazing talking to him because it was like we were already pals.

I'm glad you liked Texas! I got sunburned myself last weekend since I put only put on a slapdash layer of sunscreen before the football game.

I'm also glad you tried Tex Mex; my life would be empty without it. ^_^

I want to know what the difference is between Tex Mex and Cal Mex. Glad you had fun!

Keri Mikulski said...

Hi, Liviania! TexMex is good.. :) But, I don't think my stomach is used to it. :)

Hi, Barrie! I never had CalMex.. Hmm.. :)

When I dream about 'doing' book tours, I dream about meeting people. So first off, huge congratulations on your success, but tell me, was it surreal? Are you able to connect with the people that come up to meet you? Or is it more like the soup nazi line?

Hi, Big Plain V! Great question. The couple of signings I've done so far have been amazing. Tons of time to meet and connect with the readers and their parents. I guess if you're a huge name or a celebrity, it can be like a soup line, but for me, it's filled with a lot of one on one time, which I love and look forward too. When I was in Texas, I was so inspired by the excitement, as you can probably tell from my post and cheesy smile.

The other places I connect and chat with readers are online, teen writers workshops, and coaching. The girls inspire me every day. :) Can't wait to hear about your signings. :)
