YAY FOR YA SEPTEMBER GIVEAWAY

Summer's over and September is upon us. September might seem yucky to some, but the month of September is filled with excitement and possibilities. A new school year, new semester, new television season, brand new books to write, fall sports, and great weather. The tourists are gone. And the beach and bay are deserted. All ours once again.

In honor of September, I'm giving away three great books that each represent the month of September: Jenny O'Connell's THE BOOK OF LUKE, Lauren Weisberger's EVERYONE WORTH KNOWING, and Jennifer Donnelly's A NORTHERN LIGHT

I'm devouring THE BOOK OF LUKE right now and loving it. Can you imagine moving from your hometown to another high school, then moving back to your old high school in the middle of your senior year? That's what happened to Emily and things get really sticky when she falls for her best friend's old boyfriend. Yes, it's set in the middle of the school year, but starting over is definitely a September thing. :)

Since September is an exciting month for television, I'm including EVERYONE WORTH KNOWING by THE DEVEL WEARS PRADA author, Laura Weisberger. EWK is a fun, celebrity filled book about a woman who quits her Manhattan banking job and begins working for the biggest PR firm in the city. Consequently, she finds herself in the VIP room of the most exclusive New York nightclubs and splashed across the gossip columns. Juicy.

Back to school. Back to books. I taught seventh grade for many years. And every school year, I loved matching students with books. I could never go wrong with A NORTHERN LIGHT. Everyone loved this book. :)

Why am I so excited about September? I cannot wait for the new seasons of ONE TREE HILL, GOSSIP GIRLS, and DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES. Honestly, I never watched ONE TREE HILL until about two weeks ago when I was nursing a cold and caught a few episodes on the SOAP network. Now, I'm hooked and Ti-Voing every single re-run. Right now, I'm caught up to the 2005 season. And of course, as a teen of the nineties and huge 90210 fan, I'm so excited to watch the new 90210 tomorrow night. Did you hear the rumor that Kelly has a son and Dylan is the father? Great stuff. :)

So, what television show are you excited to watch? Or if you're not a television junkie, what's your favorite thing about the month of September?

Here are the contest rules:
1. To enter to win the above mentioned three books, leave a comment about the television show you are most excited about or your favorite thing about September.
2. The contest ends at midnight on September 30, 2008 and the winner will be posted on October 1st, 2008. My daughter or dog will pick the winner. :)
3. The contest is open to everyone. Don't be shy my writer friends. :)
4. If you post the contest on your blog or MySpace, you automatically receive two entries. Last month's winner was a poster. :)

Good luck everyone and thanks for entering!! :)

Ahh! What an awesome giveaway. :) I'm really excited for Gossip Girl, which comes back on TONIGHT! *squees* That's why I love September - so many great shows! Heroes starts again on the 22, I think. !

Anyway, the first two books sound amazing, and the third (A Northern Light) IS amazing. I read it a couple years ago and absolutely loved it, but haven't been able to get a copy for myself yet! So I'd love to win any of them.

Yay another contest!

Here's my answers:
1. I'm really excited for the series premiere of 90210. I haven't watched the original series. I think I'm most excited about this because Shanae Grimes from Degrassi is on it. It seems like just the kind of show I'd like to watch. I think I'm also going to get into Gossip Girl but I have to catch up with season one online before I do that!

Thanks for the contest!

HEROES. I. want. Heroes. Three more weeks!!

I don't watch much along the lines of television anymore. Doctor Who is mainly the only thing I watch and that premieres in the spring (unless you count the Christmas Special that comes out on Christmas morning for all the we little English kids to enjoy.). Nothing else really keeps me hooked to want to watch more. I like older shows better then the new stuff. Other then Doctor Who, come on nothing can be over fifty years of time travel.

And my blog doesn't have enough readers to run contest. And neither does the Amoeba.

I've been looking at The Book of Luke...maybe I should check that one out next.

I've been looking forward to the conclusion of Project Runway, but I also love Heroes and Eli Stone.

(PS, and I'm posting a copy of this on my blog :))

I am most excited about BONES and HOUSE!!!! I love Bones the most...idk why...but I fell in love with it. And all the books sound amazing especially Northern Lights!!!

Keri, I taught eighth grade (and a few other age levels) English for four years, and matching kids to books was always one of my favorite things to do! It was the greatest feeling in the world when they enjoyed a book I recommended and came back, eyes shining, to tell me all about it.

Oops. Was excited to comment and forgot to answer your questions. As for the television show I'm most excited about, well, I actually don't have television. But I recently promised a friend that I would finally watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer sometime, since she's been bugging me about it, so I'll have to say that. As for my favorite thing about September, it's probably that pre-fall feeling in the air. Always makes me feel a little nostalgic.

i really really love Gossip Girl, but i still have not seen the end of last season bc my mom decided it was "bad." so i probably will not watch this season (though it pains me to say so)

but i do really love Ugly Betty. it's so funny!!

I don't watch TV! So my favorite thing about September is my chance to present at the Oklahoma Library Association conference!

One of my very favorite TV shows right now has to be the Middle Man on ABC family, and I also love "Primeval" on BBC America. Now, why do I love September?! Why, back to school of course. :P

I don't watch TV much... so I'm not excited about anything. That I know of... unless one of my favorite shows comes up on my DVR, then I'll know a new season has started =P

But I still have to catch up on Project Runway... eek.

Since that's not really a good answer, I'll say my favorite thing about September. And that would be new beginnings... school, fall... that's all I can think of, actually, but it's usually a huge thing for me every year. Starting out fresh. Instead of spring cleaning, I do September cleaning =D

I also added the contest link to my sidebar of my blog: www.bookloverreviews.blogspot.com

I am sooo very excited for One Tree Hill! Last season's finale left me wanting more. Luckily I had DVR'ed it and hadn't gotten around to watching it until about the end of July, so I didn't have to wait too long. I am soo excited! I'm also excited about Heroes, which airs next month, and Chuck, which started last Saturday.

Oh! And Ugly Betty. And Pushing Daisies. And The Biggest Loser. The Hills. Greek. Mythbusters.

Ok. I think I just established myself as a TV junkie as well as the book junkie that everyone who knows me, knows me to be.

I was excited about Gossip Girls last night! I'm interested to see what happens this season although the older woman/teenage guy thing reminds me of Dawson's Creek back in the day...

I'm also looking forward to Samantha Who? Great show! And I'm completely obsessed with The Biggest Loser. Not to menion I got into Bones last year but I didn't get the chance to see it every week and I'll be making much more of an effort this year.

(Tried to send you an email but it got sent back...again)

Just wanted to check in with you to see how your writing workshop went.

I hear that the teens want to have it again….

Wanna talk about this?

PS. Just saw that you finished “Screwball 2”. Very cool. Let me know when it gets published as well. I think you should do an author talk at the library.

I don't really watch much tv, but September is a fun month. I have a friend who's birthday is in September. It's also the time when the air gets crisper and leaves begin to change.

honestly? i didn't really like EWK. something about it just irked me. i liked the devil wears prada slightly better. i've heard good things about a northern light though. :)

Marianne Arkins said...

Dang... I'd buy "Northern Light" just for the cover. I love it.

I watch almost no TV, and the few shows I do watch are already on again ("Eureka" and "The Closer")... well except for "NCIS".

I honestly like little about September. Where I live, it means a frost in a couple of weeks... and winter on the way. Sorry.

Alyce said...

The televsion shows that I'm most excited about are:

1. Secret Life of the American Teenager on ABC-Family. Unfortunately the season is almost over.

2. 90210 the new version. I loved the first run, I just hope the second is as good.

Kelsey said...

Oh, jeez, I I think it might be Supernatural, no Heroes, no House, well those are my top favorite shows but O'm also excited about Lost in 2009 and Smallville, Chuck, Survivor, Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, The Biggest Loser, Criminal Minds, CSI: NY, CSI, and America's next top model tomorrow and I'm also looking forward to the new shows, Knight Rider and Fringe. As you can tell, I'm huge on tv. Love it to death. The best/exciting thing in September, well, not much besides it ending as fast as it can because I want it to be faster to my birthday. But I'm also excited to announce the winner to my hundreth post contest on Saturday!

I'll post it on my sidebar also.

I'm not much for TV. But I love September for the sudden increase in WRITING TIME when the kids go back to school, and for the fact that we usually have great weather in September -- still lots of beach-able days. :)

NO TV for me. I love living without TV. But there are some series I like to buy and watch at the end of the season. I love THE SHEILD, though it is coming to a close.

September is my favorite month. As a kid, I loved the start of a school year.

I love September so much it is the month of my wedding...now my favorite thing about September is celbrating our anniversary.

Some other things:
Change of colors
visiting a cider mill
pumpkin harvest (pumpkin soup)
almost halloween...planning parties
splashing in puddles

and much much more!

I do love Grey's Anatomy so I will be looking forward to that. And I have to admit to being a Dancing with the Stars fan!

The best thing about September is that the crisp evenings start and toward the end of the month we start to get some beautiful orange and yellow colors on the trees. I live in New England, it's our most beautiful time of year.

I loved both of Jennifer Donnelly's adult books so I would love to win this so I can read Northern Lights! The other two sound great too, please enter me!

I am looking forward to the new season premieres of Cold Case and Without a Trace. I'll be trying some new shows as well, such as Dollhouse.

I really enjoyed Jenny O'Connell's novel Plan B and have also read the first in her new Martha's Vineyard series, but have yet to get The Book of Luke!

September is one of my favorite months since after a usually uneventful and boring summer, school finally starts again and I get to see all my friends. :) I also love autumn and the cool, but not cold weather of September.
The tv show I'm most excited about would probably be Heroes (unfortunetly, no station airs Gossip Girl where I live).
The Book of Luke sounds really interesting, and so does A Northern Light and Everyone Worth Knowing. They all sound awesome!!Thanks so much for such a cool contest. :)
