A Serious Case of Cabin Fever

While completing research for my latest WIP, I stumbled upon this amazing show...
I confess. I have a problem.  I'm not your average normal television viewer and I rarely really like a TV show. I mean, I like shows like LAW & ORDER and DANCING WITH THE STARS. But, when I really, really like a show I watch it obsessively. Like LAS VEGAS. Right now, I'm TiVoing it everyday.
But, LAS VEGAS certainly doesn't trump ONE TREE HILL, my favorite show of all-time. And it doesn't beat 90210, which is my nineties fave show and one that I could veg out on the couch and watch at any moment.

By the way, if you never watched OTH, it's good. Real good. Like so good you'll be thinking about for days. And the writing is amazing. And Nathan is hot, even though I feel like a cougar writing those words. And there's sports and drama. And Lucas is a writer and a coach. Love it! :)

Obviously, I'm suffering from a severe case of cabin fever because I'm rambling.

What are you watching? Do you have an all-time favorite show?

Have an amazing week, everyone! :)
Less then 32 days until Spring!!! :)

LOL I laughed when I read your take on OTH. I am also obsessed with it to an unhealthy degree. But I think it's because I appreciate how freaking ridiculous the show is. Chad Michael Murray's squinting cracks me up. I appreciate Nathan for all the reasons you do and I really think they should give Haley something to do already.

Thanks for sharing, Keri.

Hi, Adele! Another OTH fanatic! Thank you for sharing your obsession. Now, I'm going to pay attention to the squinting. :) LOL

Keri!!! You don't need to pay attention to catch the squinting...it's there, it's everywhere.

I love when they do alternative reality episodes eg Nathan swapping lives with Lucas in s2, the tribute to It's A Wonderful Life in s4...

I am definitely too old to be this into a teen show but I really don't care.

(BTW I loved 90210 from the 1990s as well. Teen shows and movies are my not so guilty but very much derided pleasure).

Is One Tree Hill still on the air? I had no idea! Shows what I know. But I've never watched it.
I really loved Alias when it was on and I'm SOOOO in love with Bones now. I own every season of Alias(except the last 2) and I own ever season of Bones so far. I'm an addict!!

I never got into OTH specifically because I could tell it would be addictive and I didn't have time for it.

Firefly is my all time favorite show, and while I'm sad it was cancelled, I do sorta love that it's complete and ending...never-ending stories get on my nerves.

I also love Doctor Who--cannot get enough of it!

Everyone seems to love OTH so I watched the first episode awhile ago and it just didn't draw me in at all. I'm guessing it gets way better?

I love me some Buffy. I used to scoff at it, but my fiance made me watch all seven seasons (which he owns) and I got totally addicted. :p Joss Whedon is brilliant IMO.

I also loved Veronica Mars - too bad it was canceled.

OTH is really good and i do love it. I love Haley! My all time favorite show is Gilmore Girls, I own all 7 seasons on DVD and could watch them on constant repeat. As for something that still on air, Friday Night Lights is amazing and has the same soapy feel as OTH so you may like it.

The original 90210? OMG, I am SO there!

I have lots of shows I like, but not sure there's one all-time favorite. Different shows for different moods. Though I'm hard-pressed to get tired of Coupling (the British version).

I'm more of a movie girl, though.

Adele said...

Veronica Mars is my no 2 fave of all time but Friday Night Lights is as close to perfection as TV can get.

Hey Keri!
We watch nothing new. I'm getting the kids and the husband caught up on old Star Trek TNG episodes. And then there's always Scooby Doo.
Our DVD player sees quite a bit of use!

I keep thinking I should watch OTH, but I still never have. Maybe one of these days....

I'm a TV addict and right now I watch mostly crime drama shoes. I have too many all-time favorite but when I read your post the first show that popped into my head was "Picket Fences". Yes, I'm dating myself.

Have a good week.

For the last five years, we've chosen not to have have any kind of cable or satellite, and sometimes, I aaaaaalmost regret it.

Hi, Adele! Me too. My fave episodes are the one after Lucas's uncle was shot and graduation.. :) I know exactly how you feel.

Hi, Kelly! I hear BONEs is really good. I must check it out. :)

Hi, Beth! My Teen Writers Workshop raved about DOCTOR WHO. Yes.. OTH is addicting. :)

Hi, Lapillus! BUFFY is a good show. You must watch more then one episode. My insane addiction began last summer when I was sick.. I watched three episodes in a row and I was hooked. :)

Hi, Erika Lynn! I do like FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTs, but it doesn't come close to my OTH. I think because OTH is more like what my teen years were like minus the insane drama and background music.. :) I'm definitely going to catch an episode of GILMORE GIRLS. Thanks for the suggestions. :)

Hi, Amy! Yes, the original - the best. :) I've never heard of the COUPLING. I'm going to check it out. :)

Hi, Adele! Yes, FNLs is good.. And I'm hearing a lot of good stuff about VERONICA MARS.. You and I definitely have the same taste. :)

I'm more of a computer person than a TV one. Lol! At the moment I am really into Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Sadly they no longer air on TV so I'm starting to request those from the library.

I am also in love with Ugly Betty and waiting for the library to get the second season. Hm, oh yes, my favourite reality TV is America's Next Top Model. Even though they aren't as great as the earlier seasons anymore. =)

Too funny!!!! Cougar...cracks me up! I'll go ahead and admit that I love Gossip Girl, The City, and The Hills. Those are my must-watch shows and I'm obsessed! Yes, I get made fun of for these obsessions. lol

I really, really, really need to get DVR, tho. My life would be so much easier if I had it!

Marianne Arkins said...

All Time? Nope... and I've never watched the two you mentioned. The only shows I have on season pass are: NCIS, The Closer and Eureka (okay, okay ... and American Idol, I admit it).

I love those first three shows because of the great ensemble cast and quirky humor. I <3 quirky humor. Eureka is tops in that category.

Keri Mikulski said...

Hey, Shari! Definitely check it out. And let me know what you think. :)

Hi, PJ! I stopped watching Star Trek when I was a kid after the one episode when the bug crawls out of one of the guy's ear. :)

Hi, Dru! That's an oldie and a goodie. TV gets me through the winter. :)

Hey, Big Plain V! I wish I could go without television. You can still watch OTH. WB - Mondays, 9 p.m. :)

Oh, that reminds me, my favorite's on tonight. I love LOST (although this season so far has been a little annoying)...
I like The Office, too, for laughs :D

But my current must see TV are
Nip/Tuck, True Blood, How I Met YOur Mother, Desperate Housewives, and The Soup on E!
Old faves include Friends,That 70's Show, Seinfeld..and I'm sure many more!

Hi, Diana! I love ANTM. :) And Buffy's a great show.. Enjoy catching up.

Hi, Stephanie! DVR's are the best! I don't know what I would do without one. :)

Hi, Marianne! I heard Eureka is really good.. I'll have to check it out. :)

Hi, Adrienne! I never got into LOST.. But, I don't think I gave it enough time. :)

Hi, Kelly!! I love, love, love THE SOUP! Hilarious! I've been watching it for years. Great list. :)

Ha. I spent all summer watching Las Vegas. It is addictive. I had a schedule for my TV shows all summer. 8 to 10 was Charmed and then Crossing Jordon, and then Las Vegas. I buy most of the show I like to watch because it's easier then waiting to watch them. I like having the ability to watch my shows whenever I want. Also you already know I have an addiction to Doctor Who. and Gossip Girl.

the odd things is, while jason and i were in vegas over christmas, we sat in the hotel room and WATCHED the show. after a while we were like, um, let's go out and LIVE las vegas. we're total dorks.

Hands down, the greatest TV show I have ever watched is Lost. I am obsessed with every single detail and theory about the show. It makes me actually want to time travel.

Other very distant runners up include:
Flight of the Conchords, Voltron, Sex in the City, Gilmore Girls, The Office (British Version), and Extras

You know what show I was hooked (years ago)--LA Law.

Keri Mikulski said...

Kaitlyn!!! :) How are you?? Yes, I remember your GOSSIP GIRL and DOCTOR WHO fascination. I didn't know you were into LAS VEGAS!! :) We'll definitely chat this summer. :)

Hi, Virginia! That's something I would do.. Think about being in Vegas and watch everything Vegas while I'm there.. Was it like the show?? :)

Hi, Justin! I forgot SEX AND THE CITY! That's another show I can just veg out and watch.. I heard LOST is very good. :)

Hi, Barrie! I remember LA LAW. Great show. I think it reruns on a cable channel during the day. :)

Keri,
I don't watch TV either....but I buy every season of THE SHIELD when it comes out on DVD.

Oh, good. A recommendation. I've recently taken to Netflixing seasons of certain television shows so I can watch them while doing my exercise machine. I'll watch either two episodes of a short show or one episode of a long one. Either way, it's 45 minutes. Oh, and to answer your question, I took requests, so I'm watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer (meh) and Scrubs (funny).

Alyssa Goodnight said...

I loved the part about your cougar instincts! ;)

I haven't seen OTH, but what a recommendation! I hadn't seen Gilmore Girls until recently either, and I ended up loving it.

Keri Mikulski said...

Hi, Angela! I'll have to check that one out! ;)

Hi, Caryn! Great set up. Love SCRUBS.

Hi, Alyssa! OTH is a great show! Highly recommended. :) I'll have to check out GILMORE GIRLS. :)
