How I Spent My Winter Vaca

Happy 2009! Hope you had a wonderful holiday. Besides the regular holiday hoopla and major family time, here's how I spent the break..

1. Read some great books while I waited for JaNoWriMo to begin..
2. And just as I was about to drive to the book store to spend my Visa Gift Card, these goodies arrived signed in the mail. Thanks, Lenore
3. After my eyes bugged from too much reading, I joined Netflix (what an amazing invention) and caught up with Season 5 of my fave show... :)
4. And finally, I watched this..
How did you spend your winter break? Any suggestions for my Netflix 'queue'? Isn't queue a great word? :)

Happy Release Day, Alexa Young! Book 2 of the FRENEMIES series: FAKETASTIC drops today.

PRETTY TOUGH TUESDAY: Check out some tips on how to make 2009 your best sporty year ever here

Look like you did the same thing I did, read and watch Netflix. I have a lot of action movies in my queue right now (Righteous, Traitor, Eagle Eye) and some comedies (Fly me to the Moon, Dreamer).

Hi, Dru! Thanks for the suggestions.. Did you see Gone, Baby, Gone? :)

Gone, Baby, Gone was a pretty good movie. Maybe Ben should stick with directing.

For your cue, I recommend A Love Song for Bobby Long

The teenage siren book looks great! I've really enjoyed YA lately.

No movie suggestions, sorry. I'm absurdly out of the loop.

Hi, After the Blackbird Sings! Thanks for the suggestion. It was a great movie. Disturbing at times, but good.

Hi, Marianne! Me too.. I think GBG was the fourth movie I've seen all year. :)

I spent my winter break holding onto my sanity with both hands.

Really. The kids were off school for TWENTY-FOUR DAYS. It was unreal.

Any break that involves a lot of reading is a GOOD break!

Nic pic! :) I have not gotten Netflicks yet (I suspect that doing so would = doom of getting anything done evar), but I highly recommend Doctor Who, Firefly, and Lost :)

Gone Baby Gone was a good movie and I agree disturbing. I thought a lot about it days after I saw it.
I read Chelsea Handler's book (half of it, I got it from the library but didn't finish it when it was due, and it was on hold...so I couldn't renew it!) She is hilarious! I gave my mom the book for her bday, so will borrow hers!

I knew nothing about Gone Baby Gone before seeing it, so I was pretty shocked by the plot twists. We have a situation in our family which is a bit similar (an unfit mother and a child that might be better off elsewhere) so it was especially thought provoking.

So excited for you and your signed Libba Brays :)

Hi, Beth! Thanks.. I know what you mean. Thanks for the suggestions.

Hi, Kelly! I love Chelsea Handler too.. You're right.. It is hilarious.

Hi, Lenore! Thanks again for the generous prize! So sorry to hear about the movie mirroring real life. Good luck.

Glad you had a nice holiday. I spent mine eating way too much.

Now that my kids are old enough to stay up late, all I get to watch are family movies.

I had no break. I had the opposite of a break. But I'm happy for you that you had some down time -- vegging is way under-rated.

You did way more reading...but I read some MG novels.

Mostly my holidays were spent preparing feasts (okay I am the pre-cheif hubby is the master chef), enjoying time with friends and family and hosting great big giant sleep overs.

Also ice skating whenever we got the chance.
